Frequently asked questions
What makes Movers & Shakers different from other business networking events?
We don't do generic networking. Every attendee is hand-selected from the business travel and global mobility industry. No elevator pitches to random strangers—just meaningful conversations with people who speak your language and face your challenges.
Who typically attends Movers & Shakers events?
Global mobility directors, business travel managers, relocation specialists, immigration attorneys, tax consultants, and executives from Fortune 500 companies to innovative startups. Think of it as the room where industry decisions actually get made.
How often do you host events and in which cities?
We host monthly signature events across major business hubs—New York, London, Singapore, Toronto, Sydney, and São Paulo—with quarterly flagship gatherings that bring together our global community. Because great opportunities don't follow a calendar.
What's the typical format of your networking events?
Forget stuffy conferences and awkward mixer circles. Our events blend structured discussions on industry hot topics with organic networking time. Think TED Talk insights meets your favorite industry happy hour, but with people who can actually change your career trajectory.
Do you offer virtual networking opportunities for global mobility professionals?
While nothing replaces face-to-face connections, we host quarterly virtual roundtables featuring industry leaders discussing everything from regulatory changes to emerging technology. It's your front-row seat to the conversations shaping tomorrow's mobility landscape.
What industries and company sizes are represented at your events?
From tech unicorns managing hypergrowth scaling to established multinationals optimizing global operations. Financial services, consulting, manufacturing, healthcare—wherever talent moves globally, you'll find our community leading the conversation.
How can attending help advance my career in business travel or global mobility?
Three letters: ROI. Our members consistently report landing new roles, closing major deals, and discovering solutions through connections made at our events. When you're surrounded by industry leaders, advancement isn't just possible—it's inevitable.
What's the best way to prepare for my first Movers & Shakers event?
Come curious, not scripted. Review the attendee list beforehand, but don't overthink it. The magic happens in unexpected conversations. Bring business cards, but more importantly, bring your biggest industry challenges—someone in the room has solved them already.
How do you ensure the quality and relevance of attendees?
Every application goes through our curation process. We verify industry credentials, review LinkedIn profiles, and occasionally conduct brief conversations. Quality over quantity isn't just our motto—it's your guarantee that every person in the room deserves to be there.

Participation has helped me immeasurably. The industry understanding from building connections across all sectors has given me far more than I would accredit to my GMPD certification. Depth of market insights and trends, across markets, sectors and industries.

I have enjoyed every Movers & Shakers - Professionals in Global Mobility event I have been too. Being new to sales and business development in mobility (not new to mobility 😊), it has been really beneficial to meet with peers, get insight and have learned a load.
Also great being a part of an event where it is about putting yourself out there and engaging, no name badges, just take the leap, you never know who may end up connecting with.

I have only been to one event so far and really enjoyed it. Damian and Caroline are wonderful hosts and pick great locations. It is a very professional but also super relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I have met some great people and we had interesting and thought provoking conversations.

I've always loved the events for a few main reasons. 1) the regularity. It allows cross company connections to flourish! Too often you meet peers who may be outside of your daily connections (due to role or company provision) at events and simply don't see or hear from them for a year +. Movers & Shakers - Professionals in Global Mobility allows more consistent connections 2) breadth of attendees. There's a great range of companies present and within that a range in roles. Naturally most attending are external facing / sales roles so there is a lot of similarity despite differences! 3) atmosphere. It's always been extremely inclusive of new people or new starters into a role. It's a great leap for starters into GM or supply to GM.

I have been networking for many years, in various countries, within global mobility/relocation/removals etc. So hats off to Damian Porter & Caroline Breeds as the Movers & Shakers - Professionals in Global Mobility seems to get the frequency, location, & mood just right each time.
I network for various reasons such as making new connections, sales opportunities, industry news, friendships, & keeping in touch with current customers etc, and all the boxes get ticked with this group ✅

Thank you for sharing, and congratulations on hosting 15 successful European and US events! Movers & Shakers has truly fostered collaboration across continents, building trust and strong relationships within the global mobility and relocation sectors. It's fantastic to see key industry trends being discussed, from immigration to AI and sustainability. One suggestion would be to introduce expert speakers in each meeting to tackle the current challenges we face, such as global mobility, removals, immigration, NDI, and sustainability.
This would provide even more insights into the evolving landscape and foster actionable solutions. Looking forward to future events and continued participation!
